Doesn’t everyone love a fun list?
I love a checklist! Yes, there are things to write down and then check off as completed. It gives me a sense of accomplishment, plus I can see all I did that day, week, month, or season. Add the holidays, and a Holiday Love Checklist is born!
This list is part of the necessity of a to-do list to get things done for the season. And part of a fun list to think about what you’d enjoy this holiday. I often speak of “adding yourself to the list” and have added blocks for you.
I have shared many seasonal checklists. This checklist states it is for the Holidays, but it could also be titled for the season, ‘Winter Love Checklist”. Just replace “Winter” with “Holiday” where needed.
I wanted to explain the boxes in the Holiday Love Checklist a bit. I’ll make it short and sweet. It is a busy time of year.
- The ‘Places, Events, Sites’ box is to keep a list of traditions you want to be sure to enjoy. My family loves our annual drive through the Mega Cavern in Louisville, lit up for the holidays. It is amazing! Never fails to “Wow.” This box is where to keep the dates and notes for choir concerts, tree lightings, or craft bazaars. Plus, a place to write down an event and time that someone tells you about that sounds interesting.
- One box I find especially important is the ‘This is the date…’ box. Often, we think of a seasonal evening we want to spend with the special people in our lives, but it doesn’t happen. Especially this time of year, we are running all over the place. So, this box is to plan a time to stop and sit with those we love. Set the date and invite or unscheduled, then enjoy your time together.
- A small ‘Holiday Checklist’ box to remind us that the list can be all-consuming, so break it down to necessities, get it done, and enjoy checking it off. Then, move on to what’s important – enjoying life.
- A unique box with ‘Questions’ is for your soul and creativity. We all have unique talents. Our soul sings when we take time to explore our ideas. We can create any size project to fit into our time frame. What is one thing you’d love to make for someone dear?
- The ‘Holiday Beverage’ box is pretty much self-explanatory. But! Maybe you could try one sip differently – mulled cider, cranberry punch, eggnog latte. Just think about it. Write it down. Then create it next year if you liked it, or if you didn’t, at least you tried.
- The last box is to remember your ‘Wonderful Holiday Memory.’ Big or small, what was one thing that melted your heart, took your breath away, or sealed the day? Write it down here.
Have fun creating your Holiday Love Checklist
As always, write this layout in your journal in pencil to start. That way, you can get the journal layout to fit in your book; we all have different sizes. Then, go on to embellish and fill in. Finally, enjoy the holiday.
