As I was watching all the news about what is going on around us I heard something that made by heart and soul jump up and say “Yeah!!!” Choosing Optimism!
Drew Barrymore talked about all the changes in her life brought on by the coronavirus. After being sad about them and the world she decided to keep steering her needle toward optimism. (Here is the Today show interview) That called to me so deeply – Choosing Optimism. I’ve a hard time keeping my commitment to reach out to others as a resolution and not being down about the state of our world.
So I looked up some of my favorite inspirational sayings and found this one. “Know this, you can start over, every morning. Know that every day you have the opportunity to respond…” Actually, I had written down the first sentence. But then I looked up the rest of the statement and liked the second one as well. It is by Emma Mildon, someone I haven’t followed, but will be checking her out as soon as the library opens and I can check out one of her books.
Years ago I heard Maya Angelo speak. She said something similar. “I try everyday to be a good _____________(she said Christian; you can fill in the blank). Some days I do well, others I don’t. If I don’t I pray that night that I do better tomorrow” Great words!
So here is what I am going to try to be – Optimistic. I am normally a glass half full lady but recent times have made it difficult, especially since my constant 4-legged companion, Gracie, passed away. Yes, I stepped away from my goal I had during Lent. Honestly, I know there are and will be gray days ahead but I am going to keep pointing my needle toward Optimism. I am choosing Optimism. Where are you pointing your needle? Can I help?
