30 Ways for Loving the Ordinary Each & Every Day
Every month, I create a list of 30 ways for Loving the Ordinary daily. It is a list to help enjoy life by Carefully Curating the days with home, garden, and life. Taking time to enjoy the moment alone or with someone special. I’ve expanded on some of these ideas to inspire you further. As a result, here is November’s Loving the Ordinary List of ideas to add everyday joy to life. In addition, curate or fine-tune what you’ve already created.

It is time to slow down, remember what they are, live in the moment, and love the ordinary days.
It’s time to do a few more items from your Fall Fun Checklist. Don’t have a list? November’s Loving the Ordinary List is full of things to do – Ideas for every day of the month to enjoy loving every day that colder weather offers.
With all that said, please find one or two ideas to love and enjoy in November. Here’s November’s Loving the Ordinary list.
- Collect your favorite Holiday recipes and display them in your Kitchen. After that, pick one or two to make, add the ingredients to your grocery list, and invite someone to create it with you.
- Master your apple or pecan pie recipe, and share your “practice pies” with friends and neighbors as you work through the recipe.
- Fill your tables, mantels, and bookshelves with candles & candlesticks
- Make a homemade fall-inspired latte
- Map out and plan your Thanksgiving holiday. I have a PDF for that if you need help.
- Order firewood for cozy fall and winter nights
- Plan your handmade gifts. Don’t forget to replace your sewing machine needles, scissors, or ink pads when you are out running errands, as they may be at the end of their lifespan. This way, you can jump into creating everything prepared.
- Find a favorite photo for your holiday cards.
- Clean and prep the house for holiday gatherings and decorating. In short, this is a time for home-keeping
- Create a popcorn station in your kitchen for movie and game nights
- Start organizing addresses for more efficient Holiday letter writing. If you need help, head to our Facebook group page for the spreadsheet; it’s in the files tab.
- Veterans Day – Thank someone for their service or stop by a Veterans facility with treats.
- Write notes or letters to those people in your life you are “Thankful For.” That is to say, let them know how much they mean to you.
- Try a new pumpkin recipe: pie, cake, cookie, bread or pancake. For ideas, you can head over to my Pinterest Pumpkin board.
- Purchase several hostesses, service people (garbage people, postal carriers, etc.), and teacher gifts to give out for Thanksgiving through the New Year.
- Donate any ones you no longer need as you get out your winter gear or serve your style.
- Plan your next year’s reading list – share your list. Maybe there is someone who’d like to chat about a book or two with you. In addition, join A Carefully Curated Life Book Club coming in December.
- Get out your board games: donate unused ones, replace a broken/lost piece, or purchase a new one.
- Make a few appointments to care for yourself during the holiday season. What do you need?
- Create a beautiful tablescape for Thanksgiving. An easy floral arranging class is available.
- Start an annual Thanksgiving photo tradition of everyone gathered together. First, take a photo of the group, then take a moment to share photos of the family from the past year. Finally, update your framed photos around the house.
- Talk and share family traditions with all the generations around the table
- Say “No” to something. Conserve your energy and care for yourself as the season festivities ramp up
- Make a “Thankful For ____” list or start a Gratitude Journal
- Enjoy Thanksgiving with friends, family, and neighbors. Similarly, start a Friendsgiving tradition
- It’s the Saturday after Thanksgiving. In short, let’s go out and support your local small businesses, It’s Small Business Saturday
- Skip the shopping malls and visit a local museum. Or take a class at a local shop – canvas painting, ceramic studio, candle making
- Prepare countdown treats/gifts for next month.
- Go to kitchen supply companies or home decor stores for sales on table linens. To clarify, now is the time to stock up.
- Start thinking about next year’s goals, adventures, and vacations. What do you want to do?
